Google Gmail App

I am always on the lookout for better applications, and I have really taken a liking to the new Google Gmail App for my mail handling requirements on the iPad.

As some of you may have already guessed, I am a big user of Google Gmail. In fact, I run almost everything through Gmail, including many of my business email accounts. I should first point out, that if you have multiple email addresses like me, none of the apps available that I am aware of, allow you to easily send email using a different account name from within the same account. Yes there are workarounds, but they are not as easy as doing it online with a full computer and browser.

While online with a computer, it is very easy to have the drop down menu at Gmail, and select which account you want to send your email as. Okay, enough of that thought, let's look at the Gmail App.

The application mimics the full online version fairly well, in that the layout is very similar, and has all the labels quickly available. The main feature that I really like, as compared to that of the built in iPad Apple Mail App, is that when you click on a link in the email, the Gmail App has a type of built in web browser that opens up another window, and lets you have complete access to the landing page, along with being able to navigate to other pages. Once you are finished reading those page links, it is simple to use the back button to get back to reading your other emails.

Other features include well place buttons for next email, archiving, labeling, and other items. The Gmail search works too.
